Job Summary:

The Dietitian works closely with the interdisciplinary health care team to provide nutrition services and Medical Nutrition Therapy that is integrated and compatible with the patient's medical program goals and objectives. Primary responsibilities include developing and implementing nutrition services and Medical Nutrition Therapy using established standards of care and practice protocols/guidelines; managing resources in a cost effective manner; and participating in performance improvement efforts.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Conducts a nutrition assessment for patients at nutritional risk.
  • Provides medical nutrition therapy after identifying the problem and clarifying the cause of the problem.
  • Develops and implements an individualized plan for nutrition intervention in accordance with the patient’s medical program goals, nutrition prescription, and self-management training.
  • Evaluates the effectiveness and measures progress towards outcomes of medical nutrition therapy interventions.
  • Plans patient’s menus and writes modified diets.
  • Assesses educational needs and provides nutrition counseling for individuals and groups.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree with completion of accredited dietetics program
  • Completion of a didatic program in dietetics and supervised practice program approved by the Commission on Accreditation for Dietetics Education (CADE)

Required Licensure and/or Certification:

  • Oregon State Registered Dietitian
