Dignity Health @ Mercy Hospital of Folsom is the community hospital serving the Sierra foothills communities of Folsom El Dorado Hills Granite Bay Cameron Park Shingle Springs and Rescue. With 106 licensed acute-care beds our accredited non-profit hospital has been providing exceptional care for more than 35 years. Mercy Hospital of Folsom provides surgical services including minimally-invasive general urological and gynecological surgeries. We also provide comprehensive and award-winning orthopedic services which include surgery inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation and specialty orthopedic care. As a certified Joint Commission Stroke Center Mercy Folsom provides exceptional care to our patients in our Medical Surgical and Intensive Care units as well as our 25-bed Emergency Department. Our Family Birth Center features private and contemporary birthing suites where labor delivery and recovery occur in one room as well as award-winning lactation training and support. Responsibilities

Mercy Hospital of Folsom is a certified stroke and chest pain Center with a 25-bed Emergency Room. The long term staff of the ED prides itself on teamwork and trust.

 

The Registered Nurse provides coordinates and directs care to individuals and families using a holistic approach. The nursing process is used as a structured mechanism for critical thinking and problem solving in providing effective and appropriate care within a safe and confidential environment from admission to discharge. Each RN is responsible for collaborating with members of the healthcare team providing leadership personal/professional development and conducting him/herself professionally.

  • Assessment: Performs total body and system assessment each shift/visit according to unit standards.
  • Care of Patient: Including planning, implementing, evaluating and educating.
  • Clinical/Technical Skills: Utilizes technology, procedures, protocols, standards and interventions specific to assigned unit.
  • Documentation: Performs legible, timely, concise and accurate documentation according to policies and procedures.
    Proficient and competent with the computerized documentation system.
  • Leadership: Accepts responsibility and accountability for own decisions and behaviors. Recognizes, accepts and
    cooperates with direction from facility leadership.
  • Precepting/Mentoring: Participates in orientation of new staff, ancillary personnel and mentors students in a constructive
    and positive manner. Serves as resource to staff from other nursing departments.
  • Self-Development: Continues education by attending non-mandatory education offerings specific to area of practice.
    Maintains awareness of issues related to nursing profession.
  • Goals: Provides measurable written goals appropriate to level of experience during annual appraisal process. Achieves
    pre-set goals throughout the year.
  • Safety: Maintains a safe working environment by utilizing appropriate resources, protocols, procedures, and
    communication to appropriate personnel.
  • Patient Safety: Applies safety precautions and principles to patient care, including all applicable National Patient Safety
    Goals, and adherence to medication management policies and procedures.
  • Communication: Communicates clearly and effectively using proper communication etiquette. Uses medical terminology
    accurately. Includes reporting abnormals or change in patient condition to appropriate personnel in a timely manner.
  • Quality: Participates in unit, service line, and CHW Quality initiatives. Includes Patient Satisfaction and Core Measures.

Qualifications

Minimum Required

  • Minimum of 1 year emergency services experience as an RN
  • Candidates must have a current California RN License
  • PALS, ACLS and BLS from the American Heart Association
  • Other certifications may be required
