As our Surgical Tech at CHI St. Alexius Health Dickinson, now part of CommonSpirit Health formed between Catholic Health Initiatives (CHI) and Dignity Health, you’ll prepare the operating room for a variety of surgeries. We can’t operate without you. 

The operating room (OR) runs as a team; every person on the team has an important role that directly impacts the patient. Your success in this role comes from your adaptability and enthusiasm to work with a team taking patients from a diseased process to a healing process.

• Prepare the procedure room with appropriate instrumentation, equipment and supplies. 
• Demonstrate competence and understanding of sterile technique, sterilization, environmental controls and decontamination of instrument and equipment. 
• Establish and maintain an organized sterile field and assure team members maintain the sterile environment. 
• Assists the surgeon by providing visualization of the surgical wound and assists with wound closure and application of sterile dressings. 
• Demonstrate knowledge of anatomy and physiology as it relates to surgical procedures. 
• Apply basic knowledge of instrumentation for each surgical service with advancement in years of service. 
• Perform sponge, needle, and instrument counts in an accurate manner.

Required Education and Experience 

• Successful completion of a Surgical Technologist program or an equivalent training program that has been reviewed and approved by the department director and VP of Patient Care Services

Required Licensure and Certifications

• National Certified Surgical Tech License required. 
• UAP: North Dakota, required.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support -CPR, required.
