Responsibilities

Join our dedicated team in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) at Northridge Hospital Medical Center and play a vital role in the recovery of patients of all ages. As a Registered Nurse, you will provide expert nursing care, ensuring patient comfort and safety following surgical procedures. You will collaborate with physicians and other members of the care team to deliver individualized, high-quality care that aligns with our hospital's values and promotes positive patient outcomes. Your responsibilities will include assessing patient needs, administering medications, monitoring vital signs, and providing comprehensive post-operative education.

  • Provide Patient-Centered Care: Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans, ensuring they are tailored to individual needs and preferences. Conduct hourly rounds, proactively addressing pain management, skin integrity, elimination, and other patient needs.
  • Collaborate and Communicate: Work closely with physicians, interdisciplinary team members, patients, and their families to coordinate care, communicate effectively, and ensure active patient involvement in their treatment plan. Maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
  • Administer Medications and Treatments: Administer medications as prescribed, monitor patient responses, and initiate appropriate interventions according to hospital and unit policies.
  • Lead and Mentor: Provide guidance and supervision to interdisciplinary team members, including unlicensed assistive personnel, ensuring safe and effective nursing interventions. Serve as a preceptor and role model for new personnel and nursing students.
  • Document and Report: Accurately document and communicate all observed symptoms, reactions, treatments, and changes in patient condition to the appropriate members of the healthcare team.
  • Maintain a Safe and Compliant Environment: Adhere to all established hospital and departmental policies and procedures, including legal, safety, environmental, infection control standards, the Nurse Practice Act, and the Patient's Bill of Rights.
  • Utilize Technology: Effectively utilize the Electronic Health Record (EHR) and other electronic applications to manage patient information and communicate with the team.
  • Continuously Improve: Demonstrate an understanding of Continuous Performance Improvement principles and actively participate in quality improvement initiatives.
  • Seek Professional Growth: Collaborate with supervisory staff to identify and address your own educational and professional development needs.

 

Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 year PACU or ICU experience in an acute care hospital required.
  • CA RN license required
  • Current AHA BLS, ACLS, PALS required.
  • LA City Fire Care required within 90 days of hire.
  • CPAN certification preferred.

This position is represented by SEIU L121RN and is covered by the terms and conditions of the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
