The Virtual Nurse is responsible to provide and coordinate care to individuals and families using a holistic approach. The nursing process is used as a structured mechanism for critical thinking and problem solving in providing effective and appropriate care within a safe and confidential environment. The incumbent is responsible for collaborating with members of the healthcare team, personal/professional development, and conducting him/herself professionally. The incumbent will have excellent communication skills, with an overall understanding of the continuum of care needs, safety, quality and patient experience outcomes. The incumbent will be able to effectively and efficiently speak with patients to facilitate progression of care, including education, assessment clinical status and providing interventions that are patient specific partnered with patient/family. The incumbent directly supports the organization’s efforts to enhance the patient experience, promote patient safety and improve risk reductions.
As a Virtual RN, the Nurse will develop the plan of care and provide comprehensive oversight of the care of the patient remotely across the care continuum. The virtual model will operate the Virtual RN will reside and deliver virtual care to patients through predetermined care inclusion and exclusion criteria. The vRN in partnership with the other clinical team members will be accountable for client care outcomes through the assimilation and application of evidence based practice to design, implement, and evaluate client plans of care in a virtual environment setting. The Virtual RN will work closely and in collaboration with staff, leaders, and executive management to ensure a seamless and high performing approach to the patients they serve. A high degree of professional competence and autonomy will be demonstrated in performing the roles of 1) clinician, 2) educator, 3) consultant/collaborator, 4) leader.

Valid Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification required within 6 months (if applicable) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
Exemption for ACLS for telehealth RNs and VRN practice outside of the acute care setting
Skills in the use of technology including, turning it on, connecting to the site/patient managing peripherals e.g., otoscopes, and triaging or responding to alarms or incoming requests
onsite. Includes communication and exchange of information, coordination of care with clinical colleagues; e.g., medication management, appropriate referral/connections, and creation of telehealth protocols.
