Overview

The Family Birth Center at St. Francis Medical Center is a 15 Labor Delivery Recover and Postpartum Unit (single room maternity care). We are a Level II Perinatal Center and care for patients from antepartum, labor, deliver and postpartum including providing mother-baby care

 

CHI Health St. Francis was established in Grand Island Neb. in 1887. Today our hospital is a regional referral center with more than 100 physicians and more than 1100 employees working together to build a healthier community. Our goal is to provide patients with high-quality medical care close to home where they can be supported by their family friends and community.

Responsibilities

As our Labor & Delivery Nurse at CHI Health’s St. Francis Medical Center, you’ll guide patients through the labor and childbirth process, focusing on the safety of the mother and baby, with kindness and compassion. 

 

  • Triage walk-ins to determine if a patient is in labor, water is broken, false alarm, etc.
  • Support pregnant patients in labor including induction, epidural assistance (if needed), general pain management and fetal monitoring.
  • Educate patients on various interventions or procedures, medications (name and purpose), exams, and labor stages.
  • Assess newborns and provide care.
  • Communicate with the care management team, including anesthesiologist, physician or midwife, lactation nurse, charge nurse, postpartum unit, patient and family.

 

Compensation: Base rate + shift differential

Incentives: up to $10,000 sign on bonus, up to $10,000 education assistance (must have graduated within 5 years)

Nurse Residency offered for all New Graduates

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accrediated nursing program
  • Active RN licensure in the state of Nebraska. 
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association.
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification required within 5 months of hire.
