Materials Management Technician II

Position Summary:  

Under direction of the Materials Management Manager/Supervisor, receives and distributes hospital equipment, supplies and mail. Prepares equipment and supplies for shipping, as needed. Performs daily counts of par-level locations via hand-held technology, approved supply storage system or materials management information system. Performs data entry of stock items issued from inventory. Maintains hospital inventory and materials management work areas in a clean and orderly manner. Participates in inventory/cycle counting process per department procedure. This position is represented by SEIU, Local 1107 and is covered by the terms and conditions of the applicable collective bargaining agreement.

• Conducts self in a professional, respectful and courteous manner during all interactions. Works effectively and collaboratively with others toward common goals.
• Communicates accurately, honestly, supportively and in a timely manner with department and interdepartmental team members. Demonstrates effective business writing and oral communication skills, handwriting is clear and legible.
• Participates in operational aspects of the department, and maintains/participates in performance improvement activities within the department
• Participates in all departmental specific training, Environment of Care (injury/illness prevention, fire/life safety, hazardous materials, emergency preparedness, utilities management, medical equipment management, safety and security management), infection control (standard precautions, TB Exposure Control Plan, Bloodborne Pathogen Exposure Control Plan).
• Demonstrates knowledge of and follows safety practices. Understands the importance of safety, including patient safety in the work place. Maintains a safe environment for self and others.
• Actively participates in the Patient Safety Program, including event reporting. Identifies sentinel events/near misses and responds per defined organization processes. Participates in education activities and process implementation. Demonstrates advocacy for the patient/customer and appropriately acknowledges patients, customers and visitors.

Minimum:  

• Meets minimum competencies of Materials Management Tech I. 
• Three to six (3 to 6) months of inventory management experience.
• An understanding of large ERP systems. 
• High school diploma or equivalent.  
• Competent in Microsoft Word, Outlook and basic computer operations.
• Ability to communicate verbally and in written form in English.
• Good numerical skills a must. Sound customer service techniques and practices, ability to communicate in a professional and articulate manner with internal and external partners at all levels both verbal and written, remain calm and courteous while handling problems, comfortable as a team member and informational leader, knowledge of Materials Management.  
• DRV LIC = Drivers license - State: Must possess a valid Nevada State Driver's License.  

Preferred:  

• Six to twelve (6 to 12) months related work experience in a hospital stockroom or warehouse.
• Forklift operation certification and/or experience.
