Responsibilities

Mercy Hospital Folsom, a member of Dignity Health, is currently looking for a Clinical Pharmacy Specialist to add to their hospital staff.  The incumbent is responsible for providing clinical pharmacy services including the implementation of both system and facility Pharmacy Services initiatives. This position will provide leadership in establishing and maintaining clinical programs, evaluate Dignity Health initiatives for their applicability to the facility, mentor staff pharmacists to clinical pharmacy activities, educate pharmacy residents and students affiliated with the facility, and collaborate with the facility Pharmacy Director in establishing action plans to support department initiatives at the campus level.

 

Requirements

  • Demonstrated clinical practice experience in a setting of similar size and complexity and/or completion of a pharmacy residency
  • Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) or a Master's Degree in Pharmacy (MS). 
  • Prefer candidates to be a Member of ASHP & CSHP and have completed a pharmacy residency. 
  • Current health care management theory and practices
  • Managed care knowledge
  • Effective communication, negotiation and problem solving techniques
  • Knowledge of application of standards from regulatory agencies and accrediting organizations
  • Knowledge of financial management and health care economics
    operational knowledge of pharmaceutical care distribution systems
  • Knowledge of drug utilization review, quality improvement techniques, pharmacy automation
  • Understanding of California Title 22 regulations pertaining to provision of pharmaceutical care in acute care, long-term care, sub-acute care, and psychiatric care
  • Knowledge of the principles of adult learning skills training.

Qualifications

Minimum Required

  • Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy degree
  • Residency completion or 3 years of clinical experience
  • Active State Pharmacist License in good standing, PHARM:CA
  • Board Certification (e.g. BCCP, BCPS) required within 3 years of hire (36 months) - any incumbents would not be required to obtain board certification
  • Current BLS and ACLS from the American Heart Association 

 

Must possess strong knowledge of Pharmacy Services
