Responsibilities

Uses outstanding customer service skills to schedule surgical procedures, perform pre-admission patient
consultations and insurance authorizations. Utilizes software applications, and/or other supporting systems or
documentation to ensure scheduling accuracy and expediency. Provides front office support for the practice.

 

  • Schedules all surgeries and/or procedures for patient admissions/appointments maximizing allocated spaces.
  • Works in conjunction with physician and/or staff to prioritize admissions/appointments and maximize allocated
    space based on medical needs.
  • Validates and captures primary, secondary and tertiary insurance coverage to ensure accurate billing.
  • Identifies patients in need of financial counseling to ensure appropriate payment of services.
  • Identifies services not covered by the insurance plan or requiring prior authorization; informing patients of
    courses of action as appropriate.

Qualifications

Minimum

  • High School Diploma/GED

  • One year prior front office or clerical experience required

  • Basic Computer skills, Outlook, window-based programs

  • Ability to organize work so that productivity and effectiveness are maximized

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing providing excellent customer service

  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment

Preferred

  • One year surgical scheduling experience

  • Electronic Medical Record (EMR) experience preferred; Cerner strongly preferred
