Responsibilities

Conducts and has sustained an independent, original, and self-conceived program of extramurally-funded, peerand internationally-recognized, laboratory and/or clinical research. Makes and has made substantial contributions that have moved the field forward. Writes and has published peer-reviewed, original research reports, book chapters and/or books in field.

 

Responsibilities Include:

 

  • Supports collaboration and cooperation and respect for all.
  • Acts as a resource and role model for students, postdoctoral trainees, research technicians or nurses, and fellow faculty, and interacts positively with support and administrative staff.
  • Recognized internationally as a leader in the relevant field of endeavor.
  • Contributes to administrative oversight and provides constructive ideas for improvement of the research and/or clinical enterprise and perhaps of the broader institution.
  • Successfully mentors and supervises technical personnel and trainees.
  • Assists junior faculty members and trainees in the development of their careers.
  • Proactive when recognizing a need to lead.
  • Seeks and responds to opportunities to provide added value to work of others.
  • Seeks to keep abreast or ahead of the field, and satisfies any continuing education responsibilities.
  • Produces initial observations that are reliable.
  • Regularly makes contributions of high impact in the field.
  • Recognized internationally as an expert in the relevant field based on quality, innovativeness, and impact ofpublished, original research, as relevant.
  • Successfully conducts an extramurally-funded research program.
  • Solicits and maintains grant funds to help support others and core functions

Qualifications

Education 

Doctorate Ph.D., M.D. or D.Sc. degree or equivalent in a relevant field of endeavor upon hire

 

Ten years or equivalent of faculty-level experience following the Ph.D., M.D. or D.SC. degree in a field related to current area of research Required 


Postdoctoral training as a research fellow upon hire

 

Success writing grant applications for support of own and collaborative work and supervising laboratory technicians, graduate students, postdoctoral fellows and/or junior faculty preferred
