Responsibilities

Each employee is expected to perform duties in alignment with the mission and policies of the organization. Performs duties in support of and in compliance with the performance improvement plan, JCAHO and other licensing/accreditation and regulatory agencies. Administers patient care to designated patients under the direction and supervision of a registered nurse. Performs a variety of direct and indirect patient care duties in accordance with the prescribed plan of care centered around activities of daily living. Utilizes established hospital standards of care and practice to guide patient care activities. Follows the plan of care set by the registered nurse, managing the individual needs of the patient with regards to their age and clinical diagnosis as indicated. Maintains patient safety and confidentiality during the hospital stay. Embraces diversity by displaying sensitivity to different cultures and cultural backgrounds.

 

 

Qualifications

  • Minimum of one year to two years of Emergency Medical Technician experience.
  • Has competency skills related to the Scope of Practice of Emergency Medical Technician I (EMT-I) as outlined in Title 22, Section 100063. 
  • High School graduate or equivalency and successful completion of an EMT-I course. 
  • BLS certification required
  • EMT license issued by EMSA required
  • Basic EKG certification preferred
  • Point of care testing preferred
  • Phlebotomy certificate preferred
