Responsibilities

As our Med Surg Nurse Manager, you will be a pivotal leader, shaping the future of our Medical-Surgical unit and beyond. Reporting directly to the VP of Patient Care, you will play a key role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care and driving essential hospital initiatives. What you'll do...

  • Lead and Inspire your Team: Foster a positive, collaborative, and empowering work environment that encourages professional growth and high performance among your Med Surg nursing staff.
  • Champion Clinical Excellence: Ensure the delivery of safe, effective, and compassionate nursing care in accordance with established standards, policies, and best practices.
  • Optimize Unit Operations: Oversee daily operations of the Med Surg unit, including staffing, scheduling, resource management, and workflow optimization to ensure efficient and effective patient care.
  • Drive Quality and Safety: Implement and monitor quality improvement initiatives, safety protocols, and patient satisfaction strategies to continuously enhance outcomes.
  • Develop and Mentor Staff: Provide ongoing coaching, mentoring, and performance feedback to your team, identifying development opportunities and fostering a culture of continuous learning.
  • Collaborate Across Departments: Work effectively with physicians, other departments, and leadership to ensure seamless patient transitions and integrated care delivery.
  • Participate in Strategic Planning: Contribute to the development and implementation of departmental and organizational goals and initiatives.
  • Ensure Regulatory Compliance: Maintain adherence to all applicable regulatory requirements and accreditation standards.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of accredited professional education program.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive clinical nursing experience.
  • Current, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Minnesota (or ability to obtain prior to start).
  • BLS issued by American Heart Association.
  • Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop a team. Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • Deep understanding of Medical-Surgical nursing principles, practices, and patient care needs.
  • Dedication to continuous quality improvement and patient safety.
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic healthcare environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
