Job Summary and Responsibilities

Job Summary:

 

The incumbent demonstrates competency in patient care for neonate, pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients. The incumbent will perform arterial punctures, continuous ventilation, airway maintenance, emergency care, infection control, isolation procedures, maintenance and operation of mechanical ventilators, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, aerosolized medication delivery for the treatment of pulmonary disease, and medical gas administration. The incumbent will access the medications from the medication storage unit and the nurse servers in the patient care areas. Performs other related duties as assigned or requested in professional manner.

Requirements:

 

  • Respiratory Care Practitioner CA.
  • BLS from AHA.
  • Knowledge of: anatomy, physiology, pathology, and pathophysiology of the cardiorespiratory system. biomedical electronics, basic mathematics -chemistry, physics, and psychology. - pharmacology relating to respiratory therapy.
  • Ability to deal with agitated, ill, and uncomfortable patients -maintain confidence of patients.
  • Communicate effectively with staff, patients and families -calm and reassure patients and families -work under stressful conditions with frequent interruption.
  • Ability to keep accurate and complete records - coordinate several assignments and establish work priorities -work in harmony with other therapists.
  • Completion of an AMA approved respiratory therapy program. Eligible for CRTE credit through active membership in the AART or able to exhibit the knowledge, skills, and abilities.
