Your expertise will be instrumental in utilizing the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for a diverse patient population. This role offers the flexibility of per diem work while entrusting you with significant autonomy, including the potential to act as a charge nurse, directing and supervising nursing care to ensure the highest standards of operation and patient well-being.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Complete thorough patient assessments (admissions, shifts, transfers, discharges) and continuously reassess patient status, identifying psycho-social, spiritual, cultural, and learning needs.
  • Develop and update individualized plans of care, prioritizing nursing diagnoses, setting expected outcomes, and integrating medical plans with age-specific needs and discharge planning.
  • Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately, including narcotics, parenterals, and blood components, understanding drug interactions and current pharmacological knowledge.
  • Independently manage emergency, life-threatening situations, documenting interventions and patient responses in a timely manner.
  • Educate patients, families, and significant others on illness management and post-discharge care, serving as a resource for complex learning needs and teaching strategies.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of nursing interventions based on physiological, psychosocial, cultural, and educational influences, making recommendations for improved patient response.
  • Function as a clinical resource for unit personnel and other healthcare professionals, teaching staff and fostering continuous improvement in patient care practices.

This role is ideal for an experienced Registered Nurse who excels in providing advanced psychiatric care, thrives in an autonomous per diem capacity, and is committed to upholding the mission and core values of Community Hospital of San Bernardino. If you are ready to leverage your clinical expertise to make a profound difference in the lives of patients within a dynamic acute psychiatric setting, we encourage you to join our dedicated team.
