Responsibilities

This position is responsible for the security of the hospital, its property, staff, visitors/guests and employees under the direction of the Director of Security/Manager. To achieve optimal performance this may include training of security staff and others in their role and responsibilities related to key policies and procedures. Assist in the assignment and direction of staff to perform security duties under normal conditions and in crisis situations. This position requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the Mission of Dignity Health. It is expected that the employee will demonstrate behavior consistent with the Dignity Health's Core Value and humankindness. The employee shall support Dignity Health's strategic plans and the goals and direction of the quality improvement/process improvement activities.

  • Maintains a comprehensive inspection, test and maintenance program for all security physical and electronic measures. Follows up on pending security issues.
  • Implements requirements of the Security Management Plan. Manages and coordinates responses to critical incidents. Monitors and documents actual and potential security breaches.
  • Monitors existing security systems and technologies for possible security leaks or fraud.
  • Conducts ongoing security orientation and training of assigned staff and may serve as Field Training Officer.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Completion of College level education courses in criminal justice preferred
  • Minimum of one (1) year experience as a security officer involving extensive public contact.
  • Two+ (2) year experience as a Security Supervisor in a hospital or healthcare setting, prior law enforcement or military service. Preferred

Licensure:

  • Ability to obtain a valid State Guard Card.
