Responsibilities

Job Summary:


The Hospital Monitor Technician is responsible for continuously monitoring and analyzing patient vital signs and cardiac rhythms using specialized electronic equipment. This role involves promptly identifying and reporting any abnormalities or critical changes to the medical team to ensure patient safety and support timely medical intervention.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor real-time cardiac rhythms and vital signs of patients via centralized monitoring systems.

  • Identify abnormal cardiac rhythms or signs of distress and immediately notify nursing staff or physicians.

  • Maintain and operate electrocardiographic (ECG) monitoring equipment and related technology.

  • Document and record patient data accurately, ensuring proper logs and reports are maintained.

  • Respond to alarms and alerts quickly and appropriately, following hospital protocols.

  • Collaborate closely with nursing staff, physicians, and other healthcare team members to support patient care.

  • Assist with patient setup for telemetry monitoring, including placement of electrodes and ensuring proper signal quality.

Qualifications

Minimum:
  • HS Diploma/GED

Preferred:

  • EKG or EMT certification
  • One year of Monitor Technician experience
