Responsibilities

Job Summary:

 

To decontaminate, clean, repackage, sterilize and provide instruments, equipment and supplies to operating room and other units in the hospital. Assists in managing inventory efficiently and effectively which includes ordering or indication when supplies are needed, receiving and stocking incoming materials, vendor trays, orthopedic hardware and sterilization supplies. Coordinating efforts with the surgical team to ensure that trays and instrumentation are available at the right time for the right case. 

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

 

  • Must possess prior Sterile Processing experience in an operating room (OR), Acute Care hospital setting, or Central Services department. This experience should demonstrate a solid foundation of job-related knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary for success in this role.
  • Certified Registered Central Service Technician(CRCST) certification through International Association of Healthcare Central Service Materials Management (IAHCSMM) or CBSPD certification through Certified Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) -- to be tracked manually and locally
  • Must take call shifts as assigned.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

 

Preferred Qualifications

 

  • Two years of recent experience with steam and chemical sterilization processes in a hospital setting

 

 

Please be advised that this location requires quarterly American Heart Association (AHA) Resuscitation Quality Improvement (RQI) competency certification post-hire. 

This ongoing competency is required through resources internal to the facility; outside RQI competency resources are not acceptable for CommonSpirit Health compliance requirements.
