Responsibilities

Job Summary:

This job is responsible for transporting patients and equipment between departments/locations. Provides basic aspects of patient care, patient mobility and maintenance of equipment under the direction of a Registered Nurse in a defined care team. Contributes to the delivery of patient focused care.

 

Essential Duties:

  • Assists with cleaning of equipment and maintenance of department; may exchange oxygen tanks and/or attach IV’s to wheelchairs or gurneys as necessary.

  • Escorts patients at the time of discharge from their room to personal transportation.

  • Maintains a safe work and patient environment, adhering to the hospital’s Safety, Risk Management, Regulatory Standards and infection prevention.

  • Provide Client and Patient Relations.

  • Performs basic life support, gives assistance to medical staff during emergencies, and may respond to hospital codes.

  • Performs basic patient care activities, based on skill, ability and limitations of scope of practice, as directed by management and/or nursing staff.

  • Transports patients to and from nursing units and ancillary departments in a manner conducive to patient safety and comfort, including special needs. 

Qualifications

Education/Experience:

One year recent work-related work experience, preferably in a hospital setting, preferred.

 

License/Certification:

Current American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Provider certification.

 

Please be advised that this location requires quarterly American Heart Association (AHA) Resuscitation Quality Improvement (RQI) competency certification post-hire. This ongoing competency is required through resources internal to the facility; outside RQI competency resources are not acceptable for CommonSpirit Health compliance requirements.
