Responsibilities

In support of the mission and vision of CHI Health, speech language pathologists provide evaluations, care planning, direct treatment and work as a collaborative member of the interdisciplinary team in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Care planning, patient/care-giver education, positive and professional physician and payer communication is expected in this role. Individuals in this role assess, diagnose and treat speech, language, social communication, cognitive communication, and swallowing disorders in adults and children. This role requires a strong knowledge and application of applicable laws, regulation and professional standards as it relates to speech language pathology service delivery.

  • Provides speech language evaluations, care planning, patient treatment and education according to the professional practice guidelines defined by state and professional sources.
  • Works as a collaborative team member to develop a coordinated care plan that is accountable to achievement of
    established goals.
  • Is knowledgeable and completes all required documentation and billing requirements according to established
    local, state and federal law.
  • Is responsible for the knowledge and application of measurable quality metrics associated with the area of active
    practice.
  • Periodically attends team meetings to discuss/improve program evaluation/quality measures.
  • Takes responsibility to stay current with evidenced based practice guidelines, stays current with new research introduced and serves as a professional resource to other team members in the area of speech language practice in a medical setting.

Qualifications

Required:

Speech Language Pathologist: NE prior to start date

Basic Life Support through the American Heart Association prior to start date 

Clinical Competence in Speech Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) within 18 months of start date
