St. Joseph Medical Center in Tacoma, WA, a cornerstone of healthcare in our community, is seeking an exceptional 1.0 FTE Day Shift Rad Tech to join our dedicated Diagnostic Imaging team!

About the Role:

As a Day Shift Rad Tech, you will play a vital role in assisting physicians in the diagnosis of disease and injuries. You'll perform a wide range of radiographic diagnostic imaging procedures across various settings, including the emergency room, clinics, surgical suites, and patient rooms. Your keen eye for detail, commitment to patient safety, and technical proficiency will be essential in producing optimal diagnostic quality images. We have a sign on bonus for qualified candidates. 

What You'll Do:

  • Operate cutting-edge radiographic equipment to capture precise images, adhering to physician orders and departmental protocols.
  • Act as a compassionate liaison between patients and radiologists, explaining procedures clearly and responding to questions to alleviate anxieties.
  • Prioritize patient and staff safety by utilizing appropriate equipment and techniques to minimize radiation exposure.
  • Deliver exceptional patient care for all age groups, recognizing subtle changes in patient condition and responding to emergencies within your scope.
  • Maintain meticulous patient records, ensuring accurate and timely documentation.
  • Contribute to a seamless operation by assisting with office duties, scheduling, and supply management.
  • Mentor the next generation of Rad Techs, sharing your knowledge and experience with students.
  • Embrace continuous learning, staying current with the latest FHS standards, protocols, and advancements in the field.

Qualifications

What You'll Bring:

  • Graduation from an accredited school of Radiological Technology.
  • One year of recent, related work experience demonstrating your proficiency in radiographic procedures (practical education/training counts!). Experience in current technical aspects of patient care in a radiology department is a plus.
  • Current American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification.
  • Current Washington State certification as a Radiologic Technologist.
  • Current healthcare provider BLS certification.
  • A solid understanding of radiological examination concepts, standards, and equipment.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements related to x-ray examinations and equipment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with an ability to connect with diverse patient populations and collaborate effectively with colleagues.
  • Proficiency in documenting work activities precisely and efficiently.
  • Basic patient care knowledge to assist during radiology examinations.
  • Cultural sensitivity and competence to ensure effective communication and care delivery for all patients.
