Responsibilities

Northridge Hospital Medical Center is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Medical Laboratory Technician to join our dynamic Microbiology department. This position plays a vital role in providing accurate and timely diagnostic testing to support patient care.

 

 

Perform a wide range of microbiological tests, including:

  • Bacterial culture and identification
  • Antimicrobial susceptibility testing
  • Fungal culture and identification
  • Parasitological examinations
  • Molecular diagnostic testing (PCR, etc.)
  • Prepare and maintain culture media and reagents
  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, including microscopes, incubators, and automated systems
  • Ensure proper specimen handling and processing
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of all tests performed
  • Adhere to strict quality control procedures and safety protocols
  • Participate in departmental quality assurance activities 
  • Collaborate effectively with other laboratory personnel and clinical staff
  • Assist with training and mentoring of new staff members

Qualifications

  • One year of experience as a Lab Assistant or Technician in a clinical laboratory preferred.
  • AA degree in chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science, including a minimum of 36 semester units of physical or biological science from an accredited college or university
  • Current CA MLT license. (CT MEDTECH)
  • Current Los Angeles City fire card is required. (CT Fire Card must be obtained within 90 days of start date. Classes offered at the hospital)
