Responsibilities

In keeping with the Dignity Health core values, the Stationary Engineer operates, maintains, inspects, troubleshoots and repairs all infrastructure-related equipment and systems.

This position is represented by SEIU-UHW and is covered by the terms and conditions of the applicable collective bargaining agreement.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Minimum of 1 year generalized knowledge in facility repair and maintenance operations
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent 
  • CCR Title 8, Training on facility specific Central Plant equipment and systems, Passing Competency Assessment by Supervisor within 90 days of hire
  • Must possess a valid California Driver's License and must be approved by Dignity Health as an authorized driver of hospital vehicles.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Hospital experience
  • Boiler Operator experience 

Special Skills:

  • Ability to analyze complex tasks, systems problems, designs, and be able to implement the most effective working solution.
  • Ability to work cohesively with other team members, and yet able to work alone with little to no supervision.
  • Must possess a good working knowledge of the mechanical, plumbing, and electrical aspects of the Central Plant and building systems.
  • Must be familiar with control equipment and distribution systems.
  • Must be familiar with California Administration Code Title 8, General Industry Safety Orders, Boiler and Pressure Vessel Safety Orders, and Compressed Air Safety Orders.
  • Must have good written and oral skills with a strong attention to details.
