Responsibilities

Job Summary:

 

The Mental Health Technician is defined as a member of the Mental Health Unit healthcare team who is accountable for patient care supportive services under the direct supervision of the Registered Nurse.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Certified nursing assistant, home health aide, nursing assistant, or direct patient care experience
    required, along with 2 years of behavioral health experience required.
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Has the ability to read, speak and write English in order to perform the duties of the position
  • Will maintain current competencies and certifications required
  • Ability to:
    • Work as a team member
    • Work effectively under multiple demands and adjust priorities as circumstances require to meet staffing needs
    • Maintain a high degree of accuracy and precision on consistent basis in the performance of procedures
    • Treat coworkers, patients, physicians and family with dignity and respect
    • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with all hospital staff
    • Maintain patient confidentiality
  • Physically able to work, stand, stoop and lift
  • Able to walk and stand at least 50% of the shift
  • Good manual dexterity and visual and auditory acuity
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)
