Responsibilities

Position Summary: 

 

Provides personalized nutrition consultation and teaches nutrition classes for the community.

  • Provides individual personalized nutrition consultation to high-risk WIC clients, focusing specifically on behavior changes to improve nutrition and physical activity habits of the individual or the entire family within 30-60 days of identification of high-risk and track high-risk progress.
  • Coordinates nutrition education, including Breastfeeding promotion and support that is responsive to the identified needs/interest of each high-risk participants.
  • Assesses clients for medical and social needs and refers to St. Rose or other community organizations as appropriate.
  • Maintains accurate and comprehensive charts on all high-risk WIC clients, by completing the service documentation forms, progress notes, nutrition care plans, database entry and any other documentation source required by the State of Nevada or St. Rose.
  • Prescribes food packages to high-risk participants, as appropriate.
  • Must be able to demonstrate effective teaching/facilitation methods to large and small groups utilizing a variety of tools for a variety of nutrition topics as identified by St. Rose.
  • Develops, administers, and evaluates community health education curriculum and programs for individuals and groups to address relevant health concerns for various populations in need based on the St. Rose Dominican Hospitals Community Health & amp; Needs Assessment.

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Driver's License:NV (AUTO:NV)
  • Associate Degree in Nutrition from an accredited college or university with DTR (Dietetic Technician Registered) credential.  
  • Some experience teaching Nutrition programs and providing individualized nutrition consultation.

 

Preferred: 

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree from an accredited college or university with some experience teaching Nutrition programs and providing individualized nutrition consultation.
  • Registered Dietician (RD)
