Responsibilities

About This Position

In keeping with the Marian Medical Center health care philosophy, the Unit Clerk/Certified Nursing Assistant serves as unit receptionist, transcribes orders, orders tests, order and monitors supply inventory and coordinates unit phone communication.

Under the direct supervision of a registered nurse or licensed vocational nurse, the Unit Clerk/Certified Nursing Assistant performs unit support activities, such as transporting patients, stocking shelves and cleaning work areas, and maintaining medical records according to standard. Reports observations regarding patient status to the registered nurse or licensed vocational nurse. Provides care for adult patients over 13 years of age. 

 

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Completion of approved Unit Clerk course.
  • Current CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) certification.
  • Current AHA BLS (CPR) within 30 days of employment.
  • One (1) year experience in equivalent position in a health care setting preferred.
  • Communicates clearly, concisely, and accurately with people, verbally and in writing.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work with the public.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of medical records procedures and long-term care documentation management.
  • Computer literate.
