Responsibilities

The Finance and Operations Manager, Supply Chain, is a key member of the Supply Chain leadership team, responsible for the financial planning, analysis, and reporting related to all aspects of the supply chain. This role will partner with operational leaders to develop and monitor budgets, track key performance indicators (KPIs), identify cost savings opportunities, and implement process improvements to optimize supply chain efficiency and effectiveness. The Manager will also be responsible for ensuring compliance with financial regulations and internal controls.

Essential Functions:

  • Financial Planning and Analysis:
    • Develop and manage the annual supply chain budget, including forecasting expenses, analyzing variances, and providing recommendations for corrective action.
    • Conduct financial modeling and analysis to support strategic decision-making, including rate versus volume analysis to delve into supply expense variances and summarize findings.
    • Track and analyze incoming rebates to determine whether amounts received align with expectations, develop and monitor dashboards to determine opportunities to optimize rebates through levers in operations.
    • Prepare monthly financial reports and dashboards, highlighting key performance indicators (KPIs) such as supply expense as a percentage of net patient revenue, inventory turnover, and cost per case.
    • Analyze supply chain spend data to identify cost savings opportunities and track the progress of cost reduction initiatives.
    • Partner with accounting and finance teams to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
    • Monitor contract compliance and identify opportunities to leverage contract volume for cost savings.
  • Operational Analysis and Process Improvement:
    • Conduct operational analysis to identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and areas for improvement within the supply chain.
    • Develop and implement process improvements to streamline workflows, reduce costs, and enhance service levels.
    • Create budgets for labor within operations and reporting to determine optimal labor targets and provide guidance where necessary.
    • Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to track the effectiveness of process improvements.
    • Utilize data analytics tools and techniques to identify trends, patterns, and insights that can inform decision-making.
  • Inventory Management:
    • Oversee inventory management processes to ensure optimal inventory levels, minimize obsolescence, and reduce carrying costs.
    • Develop and implement inventory control procedures to maintain accurate inventory records and prevent loss or damage.
    • Analyze inventory data to identify opportunities for improvement in inventory planning and forecasting.
  • Compliance and Internal Controls:
    • Ensure compliance with all relevant financial regulations and internal controls.
    • Develop and maintain documentation of supply chain processes and procedures.
    • Conduct internal audits to assess compliance with policies and procedures.
  • Team Leadership and Development:
    • Provide leadership and guidance to a team of financial analysts and operational specialists.
    • Coach and mentor team members to develop their skills and expertise.
    • Foster a collaborative and high-performing team environment.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelors degree required. Masters, Master of Business Administration preferred.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 4-6 years of progressive experience in finance and operations, with a focus on supply chain management.
    • Experience in the healthcare industry is strongly preferred.
    • Experience in operational finance roles (i.e. hospital CFO, Controller) strongly preferred.
    • Proven track record of driving process improvements and achieving measurable results.
    • Experience managing a team of financial analysts or operational specialists.
  • Skills:
    • Strong understanding of financial principles, accounting practices, and budgeting processes.
    • Proficiency in data analysis tools and techniques, including Excel, SQL, and data visualization software (e.g., Tableau, Looker, Power BI).
    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
    • Knowledge of supply chain management principles and best practices.
    • Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Workday) is a plus.
    • Knowledge of healthcare regulations and compliance requirements.
