Responsibilities

Position Summary:


Performs high quality diagnostic cardiac and/or vascular imaging procedures. Maintains accurate documentation of results and reports to physicians as directed.


Responsibilities may include:
- Performs various diagnostic cardiology or peripheral vascular exams including but not limited to:
Vascular Imaging
Carotid duplex
Peripheral arterial duplex
Ankle/brachial indices
Segmental pressures
Peripheral venous duplex
Cerebrovascular duplex
Absominal Aorta Duplex
Cardiac Imaging
Echocardiography
Exercise stress echo
Noninvasive Cardiac Testing
Electrocardiograms (ECG)
Holter/Event monitor application
Non-imaging stress testing
- Corroborates clinical history and assesses patient for appropriateness of ordered procedure.
- Provides patient education, applies patient relations skills and maintains confidentiality of patients and customers in a safe and professional manner.
- Assumes responsibility for assigned area, reporting equipment malfunctions and procedure difficulties.
- Assumes responsibility for personal and professional development through participation in department meetings, in-service programs, and continuing education programs.
- Performs value-added activities that result in positive customer satisfaction and/or financial performance.
- Participates in Quality Improvement and Accreditation activities as assigned.
- Participates in all safety, security, and infection control programs that are mandatory as well as those required and provided by the department.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:


- Graduate of an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography program or equivalent clinical job training.
- Registered Cardiac Sonographer CCI (RCS), within 12 months of hire.
- Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) or Registered Vascular Specialist (RVS), within 12 months of hire.
- BLS certification through American Heart Association, within 30 days of hire.
- Must be familiar with standard cardiac and/or peripheral vascular ultrasound views, equipment, and controls
- Knowledge of cardiovascular anatomy and physiology
- Knowledge of basic maintenance and upkeep of equipment
- Ability to effectively communicate with team members, physicians, patients, hospital staff, and departmental supervisor in a courteous and professional manner
- Knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, guidelines, and professional standards
- Demonstrates personal traits of motivation, quality, teamwork, professionalism, and integrity.
- Ability to communicate clearly when explaining purpose of procedure and assuring patient understanding and cooperation

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

- Current Registered Cardiac Sonographer CCI (RCS) strongly preferred
- Current Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) or Registered Vascular Specialist (RVS) strongly preferred

- Previous experience in echo, vascular, cardiology imaging strongly preferred
