Job Summary and Responsibilities

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Unit Aide to join our [Specific Unit Name, if applicable] team. The Unit Aide plays a vital, non-clinical supportive role, ensuring the smooth operation of the patient care unit and contributing directly to patient comfort and satisfaction. This position is ideal for individuals who are highly organized, possess excellent communication skills, and are passionate about supporting healthcare professionals in providing high-quality patient care.

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe patient care environment by stocking supplies, tidying common areas, and ensuring patient rooms are ready for admission or turnover.
  • Monitor and replenish unit supplies (e.g., linens, personal care items, designated medical supplies as directed by nursing staff), ensuring adequate stock is available for patient care.
  • Assist with basic administrative and clerical tasks such as answering phones, directing calls and inquiries appropriately, processing patient charts (if applicable to unit workflow), and light data entry.
  • Provide general comfort measures for patients, such as responding to call lights, assisting with meal tray setup and collection, distributing blankets, delivering water, and facilitating non-clinical communication with nursing staff.
  • Observe and report any unusual patient behavior, environmental hazards, or supply discrepancies to the nursing staff promptly.
  • Assist with the safe and efficient transport of patients within the unit or to other departments via wheelchair or stretcher as directed by nursing staff (this is generally less frequent than a dedicated Transporter role but can be part of a Unit Aide's duties).
