The Sterile Processing Manager will exercise general oversight and accountability for all sterile processing performed ensuring the quality services of medical device reprocessing is performed for the hospital, including, but not limited to, the following departments; Surgical Procedural areas, Endoscopy, Lithotripsy, Cath Lab,
Interventional Radiology, Labor & Delivery, Emergency Department, and patient care areas/clinics. The Manager will plan, design and monitor procedures for a variety of activities relating to the decontamination, assembly and sterile processing, sterile storage, and distribution of surgical/medical equipment, supplies and materials to
assure compliance with quality and safety standards. The accountability will be to ensure these standards are maintained in technical performance, quality improvement, safety, and infection control, ensuring that instruments & equipment reprocessing procedures are performed in accordance to the standards of regulatory
agencies. Such responsibilities encompass not only the sterile processing department's internal functioning, but also how it is integrated into the organization's overall operation. Gives input in both operating budget and capital budget to include strategic planning. The Manager is responsible in the coordination and direction of sterile processing personnel on the delivery of quality products for patient care. Seeks to promote and helps maintain through interactions with others, within and outside the department, a positive, professional team oriented and service conscious environment. Must have excellent interpersonal skills and able to coach personnel
for optimum outcomes. Works collaboratively with staff, physicians and other hospital personnel to meet the needs of the patient.
