Medical Assistant I

For more than 70 years, Mercy Medical Center Redding has offered comprehensive health care in the North State, providing acute care and a full range of medical services. The 267-bed hospital offers major medical services including a Level II Trauma Center as well as specialized Cardiovascular Care, Stroke Care, Orthopedics, Neurological Surgery, Comprehensive Cancer Care, Maternity Care, and da Vinci Robotic Surgery. It is the sole provider of obstetrical services, along with the only Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit in Shasta County. Incumbent works under the direct supervision of the Staff Nurse and/or licensed medical practitioner in caring for the clinical patient and providing the best possible individualized nursing care in a timely manner with emphasis on cost containment.

Please be advised that this location requires quarterly American Heart Association (AHA) Resuscitation Quality Improvement (RQI) competency certification post-hire. This ongoing competency is required through resources internal to the facility; outside RQI competency resources are not acceptable for CommonSpirit Health compliance requirements.

• (1) year experience as a Medical Assistant in an outpatient medical office, physician clinic or OB Office setting. (If operational conditions exist and no qualified candidates apply, the employer may consider a combination of education, experience and skill in lieu of the (1) year of experience as a Medical Assistant).
• AHA BLS
• Medical terminology, ability to clearly communicate and understand English 

PREFERRED:

• (2) years experience in a clinical setting 
• Associates degree in a related field 
• Medical Assistant certification
