Job Summary and Responsibilities

The Chaplain is responsible for the delivery of pastoral care to patients, their loved ones, and staff.  Responsibilities will include to ensure that religious and spiritual needs of patients and their loved ones are met in areas assigned.

 

  • Provides pastoral care, to patients and families in a timely manner and serves as a professional spiritual care resource
  • Maintains accurate documentation in patient charts regarding spiritual care interventions, plans, and outcomes
  • Advocates for patient rights in regard to spiritual, cultural, and psychosocial values and how they impact a patient and their support system response to their care
  • Supports an interdisciplinary approach to pastoral care by participating in team meetings and rounds
  • Provides education to patients and families about spiritual resources, advance directives, organ and tissue donation, ethics, and other spiritual issues that may arise
  • Participates in ritual, worship, and sacramental needs of patients, family and staff

Job Requirements

MINIMUM

Masters Of Arts in Theology, Pastoral Care/Counseling or Masters recognized by applicant’s faith group

One year of chaplaincy experience in hospital or healthcare setting

Board Certified Chaplain APC (BCC-APC) N/A within 24 months of hire

Clinical Pastoral Education: 4 units of CPE (1600 hours) in an accredited ACPE hospital center
