Job Summary and Responsibilities

Position Summary:

 

Under the direction of a RN, the incumbent will provide basic patient care and demonstrate the application of the principles of asepsis and endoscopy suite preparation, equipment care and cleaning. The incumbent is also responsible for clerical work to include but not limited to scheduling, statistical data collection, copying and entering charges.

 

Job Requirements

Minimum Qualification:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • One (1) year of experience as an Endoscopy Technician (may be waived based on operational needs)
  • Knowledge of endoscopy suite preparation, equipment care and cleaning required
  • Ability to process clerical work including, but not limited to: scheduling, statistical data collection, and copying and entering charges required
  • Knowledge and background in medical terminology required
  • Ability to read, write and follow oral and written instructions required
  • Current BLS certification required (must be certified through the American Heart Association)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in anatomy, medical terminology, computer spreadsheet, personal computer, automated high level disinfectors, sterilizers, procedure room turn over, automated / manual scope cleaning, and the Olympus Endoworks System
  • Knowledge of the inventory of sterile, unsterile and disinfected instruments, their proper handling, function, availability and location
