Job Summary and Responsibilities

Under general supervision, Dietitian is responsible for providing professional dietitian services such as nutritional
status, needs assessment, planning, counseling and education for patients with nutritional risk using scoring
guidelines and initiates referrals for dietetic assessments.
Essential Functions
Essential Function
Perform nutritional screening on all patients, using appropriate methods per department standards.
Promote nutrition education to all appropriate individuals and groups as applicable.
Provide educational training and counseling to patients on specific nutrition therapies based on their diagnostics.
May provide nutritional education to department staff to further their knowledge of nutrition, modified diets, and
effective delivery of patient needs.
Complete nutrition care documentation and charting (e.g., Volume Indicators) in accordance with departmentspecific standards.
Institute basic nutrition plan including individualized menu plans and monitors intake and acceptance of meals,
snacks, and supplements.
Calculate calorie count results.
Process new diets and menus or changes to existing diets or menus.
Tally and record nutrition information and informs dietary staff of patient requirements based on information.

Job Requirements

Job Requirements / Qualifications

  • BS Degree in Nutrition or Dietetics

  • Registered Dietitian

  • Master degree in related field preferred.
