Job Summary and Responsibilities

  • Except to deliver care to 4-6 patients per shift 
  • Administer medications, change dressings, monitor vital signs, and chart with timely documentation 
  • Collaborate with a variety of other healthcare professionals such as social work, care coordination, physical therapy, occupational therapy, lab, respiratory therapy and imaging to care for cancer patients.
  • Specialty: Liquid and solid tumors, hematology floor, with multiple blood transfusions in one shift, chemotherapy, good IV skills, good clinical judgement and assessment skills for recognizing oncologic emergencies, oncology trained nurses, 30% oncology certified nurses (OCN) - oncology specialty, minor spinal surgery overflow (laminectomies)

    Other - Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) trained for biochemotherapy infusions, RN IIIs & RN IVs engaged in shared governance serving in multiple hospital-based practice councils

Job Requirements

Qualifications: 

 

  • Degree in Nursing from an accredited program college, or university
  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) within 2 years from date of hire. 
  • At least one (1) year of RN experience 
  • Active Registered Nurse license in good standing with the Texas Board of Nursing
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
