Job Summary and Responsibilities

Job Summary

  • Under indirect supervision the incumbent is accountable for coordinating the overall operation of the departments to ensure that the optimal schedules, staffing levels and payroll outcomes are in effect and are based upon census, acuity and budget. Incumbent is also responsible for ensuring sound financial oversight of operations. The incumbent integrates knowledge, skills and experiences to meet the needs of patients and families with an awareness of cost containment and time management. In addition the incumbent trains, evaluates and supervises staff in carrying out policies and procedures. This position will be responsible for sharing resource call for the department. The position reports to the Director Perioperative Services. Department Supervisors and staff report to this position.
  • Schedules nursing staff to specific shifts, taking into account past utilization trends. Measures employee performance. Assists in the training of new staff members and the development of existing staff members.
  • Coordinates the activities of the unit during a particular shift and directs, organizes, and assigns work to the nursing staff.
  • Assesses, monitors, and educates the nursing staff on patient care. Institutes emergency procedures as necessary.
  • Provides nursing care to patients on an as needed basis.

 

 

Job Requirements

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or equivalent education and experience. Magnet Hospital: BSN required.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of nursing experience and one (1) year of leadership experience.

Licensure:

  • Registered Nursing License (RN) in state of practice, Basic Life Support (BLS), other credentials or credential modules may be required.
