An Interventional Radiology (IR) Nurse, also known as a Peripheral Vascular Nurse or Angiography Nurse, is a highly specialized registered nurse (RN) who plays a critical role in the interventional radiology team. This team performs minimally invasive image-guided procedures to diagnose and treat a wide range of conditions across various body systems.
Essentially, an IR Nurse is the perioperative nurse of the interventional radiology suite. They combine the acute care skills of an emergency or critical care nurse with the technical knowledge of imaging and procedures.
Current RN license that allows you to practice in our state
Graduate of an accredited nursing program
Requires at least 1-2 years of experience in critical care, emergency medicine, or a perioperative setting
Basic Life Support (BLS) required
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) required
Specialty certification (ex: PCCN) preferred
Additional certification or licensure may be required for specialty areas
