Job Summary and Responsibilities

 

Position Summary:

 

Ongoing training in the operations and maintenance of stationary engines and mechanical equipment, such as compressors, generators, turbines and steam boilers. Provides for utilities such as heat, refrigeration, air conditioning, electrical power and other services for the medical center. This position requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the Mission of the Organization. It is expected that the employee will demonstrate behavior consistent with the Core Values. The employee shall support the Organization's strategic plan and the goals and direction of the Performance Improvement Plan (PIP).

 

Responsibilities:

  • Attends classes performing as prescribed by the joint apprenticeship program.
  • Ensures maintenance, operation and repair responsibilities meets department expectations.
  • Conduct utilities and equipment tests, repairs and routine compliance checks including documentation.
  • Utilize time productively
  • Process administrative paper work in accordance with departmental policies and procedures
  • Requires successful completion of Employee health requirements
  • Ability to utilize computer systems to communicate, document, store data, create simple maps, and step by step write ups
  • Maintain regular attendance and abides by the facility attendance policies
  • Reports findings and concerns using chain of command, lead engineer, Assistant Chief Engineer, Chief Engineer

Job Requirements

 

Minimum:

  • Agree to enrolled in the Union Local 39, 4 year Apprenticeship program
    • In the 4 year Apprenticeship program the incumbent will be required to work at the hospital during the day and attend classes in Sacramento (or other site as required) twice a week in the evenings
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Valid California Driver's License
  • Required to submit and pass multiple aptitude/mathematical examinations
