Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Surgical Tech, you will work under the supervision of the surgeon and RN, playing a vital role in keeping the operating room organized, sterile, and ready for safe, efficient surgical procedures.

Every day, you will arrange and inventory sterile instruments, equipment, and supplies for surgical cases, passing items to surgeons and nurses as needed throughout the procedure. You will also assist in preparing and moving patients, along with sterilizing and cleaning instruments, equipment, and rooms between cases.

To be successful in this role, you will need strong attention to detail, the ability to stay calm and focused in a fast-paced environment, solid knowledge of sterile technique, and effective teamwork and communication skills to support the surgical team.

 

  • Sets up sterile table with instruments, supplies, equipment, and medications/solutions needed for procedure.
  • Maintains highest standard of sterile technique during procedure by checking package integrity, indicators and opening procedures.
  • Performs appropriate counts with circulator prior to the operation, before incision is closed and as needed.
  • Prepares solutions and medications used.
  • Properly labels and reports amounts used for charting.
  • Prepares back table and mayo stand anticipating needs of the surgeon and through the use of the surgeon’s preference card.

Job Requirements

Required

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Current registration as a Surgical Technologist required for employees working in Colorado, unless performing Surgical Technologist functions within the scope of another clinical license in the state of employment. A license is not required in UT or KS. Preferred Completion of an approved Surgical Technician program
  • One (1) year of experience in a surgical setting
  • Experience in a specialty field
