Job Summary and Responsibilities

Job Summary:

 

In keeping with the Marian Medical Center health care philosophy, the Certified Nursing Assistant supports and promotes the provision of quality patient care. Actively participates as a team member in the systems, functions and activities of the unit/department.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Patient hygiene (bathing, grooming, oral and perineal care, pack rubs).
  • Documentation of baseline date (vital signs, intake and output).
  • Knowledge of mobility and precautions for orthopedic patients.
  • Skin care for immobilized patients.
  • Uses proper techniques and/or equipment to ambulate, lift, move, position, and transport patients.
  • Maintains an environment free of abuse and reports suspected resident abuse to supervisor.
  • Records pertinent information clearly, accurately, and in a timely manner.
  • Reports pertinent information to appropriate person.
  • Participates in continuing education in areas applicable to patient population.
  • Provides for resident and staff safety through application of safety guidelines.
  • Stocks patient-care supplies before leaving end of shift.
  • Complies with safety, infection control, CHW Integrity Program, and other organizational policies (90-day evals- department specific orientation checklists completed; annual evals -annual competency checklists completed).
  • Complies with the organization's dress code.
  • Arrives at work on time, as defined by the Attendance and Timeliness Policy.
  • Attends work consistently, as defined by the Attendance and Timeliness Policy.
  • Actively supports the organization's mission, philosophy and strategic plan.
  • Demonstrates good time management and priority setting.

Job Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

 

Education and Experience:

  • Successful completion of Certified Nursing Assistant program.
  • Successful completion of MECC sub-acute exam to work sub-acute wings.
  • Six (6) months recent hospital experience as CNA (Preferred).

Licensure and Certifications:

  • Certified Nursing Assistant: CA (CNA:CA)
  • Basic Life Support - CPR (BLS-CPR) (within 30 Days of hire)

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Training:

  • Communicate effectively in English both verbally and in writing, clearly, concisely, and accurately.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Operates IVAC thermometer, vital check machine, blood pressure cuff.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and basic procedures.
