Do you thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment where precision and teamwork are paramount? If so, we invite you to join our dynamic surgical team as a Surgical Technologist!

As a vital member of our operating room, you'll work directly alongside talented surgeons and dedicated registered nurses, orchestrating the seamless execution of surgical procedures. Your expertise will be the cornerstone of a safe and efficient environment, directly contributing to positive patient outcomes. This isn't just a job; it's an opportunity to make a tangible difference, one procedure at a time.

 

What You'll Do (The Core of Your Impact):

  • Be the Surgeon's Right Hand: Serve as the primary surgical scrub, anticipating needs and expertly handing instruments and supplies to the surgeon during complex operative procedures.
  • Precision in Preparation: Masterfully set up the operating room with precision, ensuring all necessary surgical equipment, instrumentation, packs, and supplies are operational and readily available for the specific procedure.
  • Guardian of Sterility: Uphold the highest standards of aseptic technique throughout every procedure, safeguarding patient safety and preventing infection.
  • Seamless Transitions: Collaborate with the surgical team to position patients accurately for optimal access to the operative area. Assist with efficient operating room turnover, preparing for the next crucial case.
  • Beyond the OR: Provide assistance in transporting patients safely to the recovery room or other designated areas, ensuring their comfort and well-being.
  • Instrument Maestro: Take meticulous care of all instrumentation used during operating procedures, ensuring their proper handling, cleaning, and maintenance.
  • Calculated Confidence: In close collaboration with the circulating nurse, ensure the accurate calculation of blood and fluid loss, providing critical data points for the surgical team.
  • Unwavering Accuracy: Execute timely and accurate sponge and sharp counts in strict adherence to hospital policy, maintaining a sterile and organized field.
  • Policy Champion: Diligently comply with all surgery department and hospital policies and procedures, including rigorous adherence to all safety protocols.
  • Collaborative Spirit: Foster strong communication with peers and other healthcare team members, contributing to a supportive and cohesive unit environment.
  • Reliable and Punctual: Demonstrate exceptional attendance and punctuality, understanding the critical importance of your presence to the smooth functioning of the surgical schedule.
  • Beyond the Description: Embrace opportunities for continuous learning and contribute to other related duties as assigned, demonstrating your commitment to the team's success.

Job Requirements

What You'll Bring (Qualifications):

Required Licensure and Certifications:

  • Graduation from an accredited school for surgical technology, OR
  • Demonstrated training and experience from the military, OR
  • Demonstrated other operating room technician experience within the last year.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Independent Worker: Proven ability to work independently,
  • Effective Communication: Ability to speak, read, and write English effectively is essential.
  • Technical Acumen: Ability to apply technical and professional knowledge appropriately in a surgical setting.
  • Exceptional Accuracy: A high degree of accuracy is required in all aspects of surgical support.
  • Computer Proficiency: Ability to utilize computer systems for accessing email, education modules, and the electronic medical record/order entry.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Current national certification as a Surgical Technician.
