Job Summary and Responsibilities

As a Registered Nurse on our Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgical Acute Care Unit, you will be responsible for delivering excellence in patient care by assessing, formulating nursing diagnoses, establishing goals, planning and implementing intervention, and evaluating patient care outcomes. With the staff nurse's professional practice, you are responsible for participating in and maintaining quality, cost-effectiveness, and guest relations. 

 

10 Tower - Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgical Acute Care

  • 29-bed cardiovascular and thoracic surgical acute care unit.
  • The primary patient population consists of postoperative patients who have undergone the following procedures: Bentall; repair of aneurysms in the ascending and descending thoracic aorta, carotid endardectomies, femoral popliteal bypass, extrapleural pneumonectomy, esophagectomy, pneumonectomy, and amputations.
  • Secondary patient populations include pre-surgical, postoperative cardiovascular aorto-coronary bypass, thoracotomies and medical cardiology or dysrhythmia patients.
  • The floor has a central telemetry monitoring system with the capability to monitor 29 patients, VATS, TAVR TGVAR.

  • Except to deliver care to 4-6 patients per shift for patients 

Job Requirements

Education/Certification/Licensure:

  • Associates Degree in Nursing or Diploma (required)
  • Bachelors in Nursing (preferred)
    • Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing (BSN) is required within 2 years from date of hire. Current employees grandfathered before July 2020.
  • Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Texas (required)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification (required)

Experience:

  • Minimum of one (1) year of RN experience (required)
  • Demonstrated competence in Registered Nurse I performance expectations or meets experience requirements upon hire (required)
