Job Summary and Responsibilities

As a Medical Surgical Nurse at Glendale Memorial Medical Center, you’ll excel in your nursing career by providing care to patients admitted to our unit. Most of your patients are funneled in from other units providing you with the opportunity to build on your education and experience in specialized service lines such as cardiac, telemetry, orthopedics, neurology, critical care, surgical services, and emergency.

Responsibilities

 

  • Provides comprehensive, evidence-based nursing care to achieve optimal patient health outcomes.
  • Organizes and prioritizes patient care activities, ensuring a balance between clinical needs and patient comfort.
  • Collaborates effectively with multidisciplinary teams to develop holistic and comprehensive care plans.
  • Applies and adheres to current practice standards, guidelines, and all relevant statutes, rules, and regulations.
  • Demonstrates strong ethical conduct, accountability, and supports ethical practice by addressing any concerns.
  • Actively serves as a patient advocate, championing their well-being and interests
  • Deliver care to 4-6 patients per shift 
  • Administer medications, change dressings, monitor vital signs, and chart with timely documentation 
  • Collaborate with a variety of other healthcare professionals such as social work, care coordination, physical therapy, occupational therapy, lab, respiratory therapy, and imaging

Job Requirements

  • Minimum requirement of 6 months of prior acute care experience in same unit

  • Current California license as a Registered Nurse.
  • AHA BLS certification.
  • Excellent communication and patient skills required.
