Job Summary and Responsibilities

 

Day Per Diem SICU Registered Nurse

 

The St. John Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU) is an 11-bed unit dedicated to providing exceptional and comprehensive care for critically ill surgical patients. Our unit specializes in a wide array of surgical disciplines, including Vascular Surgery, Thoracic Surgery, and diverse General Surgery cases. We are committed to delivering the highest caliber of patient-centered care through a collaborative and multidisciplinary approach.

 

Our highly skilled and compassionate team comprises experienced critical care nurses, intensivists, surgeons, and other allied health professionals who work seamlessly together to ensure optimal patient outcomes. This integrated team is focused on current evidence-based practices, ensuring that every patient receives the most effective and up-to-date treatment available.

 

The incumbent provides, coordinates and directs care to individuals and families using a holistic approach. The nursing process is used as a structured mechanism for critical thinking and problem solving in providing effective and appropriate care within a safe and confidential environment from admission to discharge. Each RN is responsible for collaborating with members of the healthcare team, providing leadership, personal/professional development, and conducting him/herself professionally.

 

 

Job Requirements

 

Minimum:

  • 1 year as a Registered Nurse in an acute care critical care unit
  • Current California RN License 
  • Current BLS and ACLS certification from American Heart Association
  • Other certifications may be required
