Job Summary and Responsibilities

Job Summary:

 

The Employee Health Nurse performs clinical duties which includes health surveillance for employees, volunteers, contract, and medical staff such as administering Quantiferon testing, performing fit testing, administering Hepatitis B, MMR, VZ, Tdap and flu shots and new employee onboarding.

  • Maintains database of employee's health records and inputs health information in the Employee Health assigned software.
  • Performs workers' comp triage and provides first aid to injured employee.
  • Assists in entering workers' comp claims and tracking employee injuries.
  • Assists in the training of direct patient-care employees in the use of the safe patient handling equipment.
  • Assists in projects of orientation, safety, staff development, health education and equipment training.
  • The Employee Health Nurse reports to the manager of Employee Health.

Job Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of nursing procedures, ability to give vaccines, Quantiferon, and knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of patients or employees.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret graphs.
  • Critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a nurse, preferably in a hospital.
  • Technical/Vocational - Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • RN = Current license as a Registered Nurse in the State of Nevada.
  • CT CPRBLS = AHA-Basic Life Support-Nat'l

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • College degree preferred.
