Job Summary and Responsibilities

The Transition RN Fellowship at California Hospital prepares and supports experienced nurses as they enter into a specialty unit.  Our next RN Transition Fellowship program start date will begin March 16th, 2026. Candidates must have at least 1 year of RN experience to be eligible for this program.  Positions are limited and early application is encouraged. Application period is open December 1st 202​5  and will closed when a sufficient number of applicants have been received.

As a surgical services nurse at California Medical Center, you will prepare patients for surgical procedures and assist in the operating room to ensure they receive excellent nursing when they are at their most vulnerable. 

Every day you will go over consent forms, answer questions about the procedure, do preoperative assessments, make sure the equipment is ready to go, and update family members on the surgery status during the operation. You will be expected to directly assist the surgeon during the actual surgery.

To be successful in this role you must have the ability to maintain focus while multitasking, remain calm under pressure, and exercise good judgment in emergency situations.

Responsibilities

 

 

 

 

  • Assist surgeon and surgical team in the OR
  • Care for patients before, during, and after procedures
  • Develop and implement nursing care plan for surgical patients
  • Ensure operating rooms are prepped with all necessary equipment and supplies
  • Demonstrate a high level of compassion for patients

Job Requirements

  • Previous 2 years RN experience required.
  • RN licensed to practice in the State of California.
  • BLS - Basic Life Support
  • ACLS - Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support
  • Prefer circulating experience and completion of peri op 101.
