Job Summary and Responsibilities

A peer support specialist is a person with "lived experience" who has been trained to support those who struggle
with mental health, psychological trauma, or substance use.

 

  • Experience in coping with life events successfully despite having a mental health challenge.
  • Help individuals in setting and achieving their own goals.
  • Maintain high standards of personal conduct. Teach and role model the value of every individual’s recovery
    experience. 

Job Requirements

  • High School Graduate or GED required
  • Must have experience with own personal mental health/substance abuse challenges.
  • Experience as a Peer Support Specialist or working in a Psychiatric or Human Services setting preferred
