The 267-bed hospital offers major medical services including a Level II Trauma Center as well as specialized Cardiovascular Care, Stroke Care, Orthopedics, Neurological Surgery, Comprehensive Cancer Care, Maternity Care, and da Vinci Robotic Surgery. It is the sole provider of obstetrical services, along with the only Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit in Shasta County. Job Summary and Responsibilities

Position Summary:

 

The incumbent, as a member of the Mercy Family Health Center health care team, is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility and accountability for a group of patients for a designated time frame and provides for direct and indirect care to those patients via therapeutic use of self, the nursing process, the environment / instrumentation and other health care team members. The incumbent, as a member of the health care team appropriately delegates and supervises nursing care team members with an awareness of cost containment and time management.

As a Clinic Nurse, you will be a central figure in our patient care team, delivering exceptional, compassionate care that truly makes a difference in our patients' lives.

Every day, you will collaborate on comprehensive screenings, conduct critical risk assessments, provide vital preventative health education, and expertly coordinate care for diverse patient populations, leveraging technology to streamline processes. You'll ensure patients feel informed and at ease, patiently guiding them through instructions and addressing their concerns.

To be successful in this role, you will combine robust clinical knowledge and technological proficiency with genuine compassion, strong communication skills, and an adaptable approach to learning and patient-centered care.

  • Performs routine physical/psychosocial assessment to collect basic data: follows the written plan of care, standards, practice guidelines, utilizes pathways
  • Formulates a plan of care for individual needs, including cultural/ethical/spiritual needs. Participates in the planning of routine transitional health care needs (i.e. treatment options, patient placement options)
  • Adapts planned educational programs and information to individual patients and family by modifying teaching strategies or content. Integrates education during the delivery of patient care
  • Ensures efficiency in the delivery of care to determine immediate priorities and to offer solutions for problems
  • Makes independent clinical decisions based on knowledge drawn from education and experience
  • Actively advocates for patient rights and identifies potential conflict. Seeks counsel for resolution of conflict

Job Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree in nursing from an accredited school of nursing required
  • Current California RN license required
  • One year of recent hospital experience and/or previous nursing practice experience rquired
  • Verbal and written communication skills and computer skills required

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's of Science in Nursing degree from an accredited school of nursing preferred
  • Five or more years recent hospital experience and/or previous nursing practice experience preferred
