Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Behavioral Health RN, you’ll help our patients and their families feel comfortable and educated when they’re making significant healthcare decisions. Our patient population needs hands-on nursing to be able to identify patient needs when they are not able to articulate what they are experiencing.

You’ll build trust in these interactions by advocating, supporting, and educating your patients and their families.

Your success in this role comes from your empathy and patience to help others during a vulnerable time in their lives. You’ll get to be involved in patient improvement that can take a patient from disorientation to opening up and sharing their personality.

  • The Intake Team Member will be mobile only for Glendale Memorial Hospital & Health Center.Successfully follows on-call rotation schedule and arranges coverage if not available.
  • Maintains current knowledge of any changes in the laws in L.A. County LPS.Independently maintains as current all licensure and certifications.
  • Participates in inservice education, staff meetings as scheduled by the Department Director/Manager and 5150 proctoring with Medical Director.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality at all times.
  • Performs clinical assessments of patients; evaluates mental status, psychiatric, drug history and other psychosocial needs and makes appropriate recommendations for disposition. Contacts families/placements if appropriate to assist with assessment. Reviews recommendations with appropriate psychiatrist before determining disposition.
  • Communicates with treatment team staff on each evaluation prior to dispositioning the patient to either inpatient or outpatient status. Continues to maintain effective communication with treatment team staff as appropriate throughout the process of evaluation and disposition. If psychiatric hospitalization is indicated, social worker will coordinate the admission with the treatment team, on-call psychiatrist, insurance company as needed, and any other appropriate Dignity Health staff.

Job Requirements

Required

  • Minimum requirement of 6 months of prior acute care experience in same unit
  • Current California license as a Registered Nurse.
  • AHA BLS required
  • Excellent communication and patient skills required.


Preferred

  • Prior experience in crisis intervention and/or emergency room setting
