Mercy Medical Center Mt. Shasta is a member of the Dignity Health system of health care providers and is a not-for-profit medical facility. We are designated as a 25 bed Critical Access Hospital and are accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Health care Organizations. In addition to our acute care hospital we also own and operate three Rural Health Clinics providing walk-in immediate care as well as scheduled appointments for routine medical needs.

We are located in the northernmost area of California and are part of a network of care, including Mercy Medical Center Redding and St. Elizabeth Community Hospital in Red Bluff. Job Summary and Responsibilities

POSITION SUMMARY:

As our Medical Assistant, you'll keep the day running smoothly and efficiently for your patients and clinical team. Medical Assistant will work under the direct supervision of the Staff Nurse and/or licensed medical practitioner in caring for the clinical patient and providing the best possible individualized nursing care in a timely manner with emphasis on cost containment.

Every day, you will take the lead on proactively preparing patient charts, ensuring all information is obtained and up-to-date for those seen in our facility. You can expect to have multiple patients daily depending on the number of physicians are on-site.

Your success in this role comes from your enthusiasm to help others, work efficiently, and your empathy for our patients.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED:

  • One year experience in a outpatient medical office or physician clinic setting
  • Basic Life Support - CPR, upon hire
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite

  • Medical terminology, ability to clearly communicate and understand English

 

PREFERRED:

  • Associates degree in a related field
  • Two years experience in a clinical setting
  • Spanish speaking skills 

  • Working knowledge of state supported programs specific to rural health clinics and Medical Assistant certification
