Where You’ll Work

Established by the Sisters of the St. Francis in 1924, CHI Health Good Samaritan is a 268-bed regional referral center in Kearney, Neb. At CHI Health Good Samaritan, you’ll find an advanced level trauma center that also offers AirCare emergency helicopter transport and an ambulance program providing long distance and local 911 service. Among our many other services are cardiac care including open-heart surgery, a level II neonatal intensive care unit, a nationally accredited cancer center, comprehensive neurosurgery, advanced orthopedic program, and inpatient and outpatient mental health services at our free-standing Richard Young Behavioral Health facility.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our House Supervisor, you will be a pivotal clinical leader, primarily overseeing and coordinating comprehensive care delivery across all clinical areas during designated shifts.

Every day, you'll serve as in-house administration after hours/weekends, assuming delegated nursing administrative responsibilities. You'll assist directors, monitor productivity, and act as a crucial communication link. You'll also operationalize strategic initiatives and model ethical management, supporting our mission.

To be successful, you'll combine strong clinical expertise with exceptional administrative acumen, excellent communication, and the ability to make critical decisions under pressure, fostering high-quality patient care and organizational integrity.

  • Has the authority to interview, hire, orient, terminate, promote, train and conduct performance evaluations.
  • Assigns day-to-day work activities; directs the functional and technical job performance of team members.
  • Allocate and direct staffing needs to meet patient, unit, and department needs, and collaborate with others to ensure overall staffing needs are met.
  • Responsible for the coordination and support of patient activity and safe practices in all clinical areas on the designated shift.
  • Oversight for placement of all admissions on designated shift. All hospital EMTALA transfers requests are discussed/coordinated through the House Supervisor.
  • Responsible for facilitating unit triaging during times of peak census. When high census or ICU contingency plans are imminent, coordinates decisions with Directors, Medical Director, Vice President and Administrator on-call as appropriate.

Job Requirements

 

  • Bachelors Of Science in Nursing
  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license that allows you to practice in our state
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) 
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) 
  • 3 to 5 years of clinical experience
